EXPLANATION OF SOME FILES IN THIS DIRECTORY

advice.txt and advice.asc:
    These contain the plain text of the advice I have written on how to do
    a dissertation.  Many students have found it useful over the years,
    but you need common sense in interpreting it.
advice.txt - readable on screen: each line ends with newline character
advice.asc - reformattable: each paragraph ends with newline character so 
it can be loaded into word processor.

advice.pt6 - version used by my word processor, placed here only as archive 
in case of loss; please ignore this file.
